If you are in the market for a car, you need to decide between looking for a car to buy from a private party or from a dealership. The information you'll read here will explain some of the different reasons why you may want to head to the dealership and forego looking at cars that are for sale through private parties.

See many cars in one place

If you go from private party to private party looking for the right car, you can spend a lot of time and money traveling around looking at one car at a time. At this rate, it can take a while for you to find a car. If you don't currently have a car, then this can create even more problems for you. With a dealership, a simple walk around the lot can allow you to look at dozens of cars you may be interested in learning more about. It's highly unlikely you would buy the first car you looked at through a private party, but it wouldn't be surprising at all to find the car you want at the first dealership you visited.

You may be able to afford a newer car at a dealership

When you go to a private party to buy a car, you need to have all the money they want in order to buy the car outright. It would be rare and even extremely surprising to find a private party who would be willing to take payments from someone they don't know. When you go to the dealership, you can get the car for a reasonable down payment and monthly payments you agree on. This gives you the opportunity to get a much newer car that can be more dependable for you. In fact, you might be surprised to find you can drive off in a brand-new model with monthly payments that work for you.

You know a mechanic has gone through the car

When you buy a car from a private party, they may be able to hand you receipts showing things like a newer battery and new tires. However, when you go to the car dealership, then you know the service department has looked over the car. If you go with a new car, then you can trust the car to be in brand-new condition. You can visit a Honda or Nissan car dealership when you are in the market for a new or used car.
